
World Kindness Day is celebrated on November 13 across the world to promote the significance of being kind to each other as well as to yourself and to the world. The celebration of the day aims at reinforcing the fact that compassion links us all together and has immense power of bridging the gap between nations.
World Kindness Day History
The World Kindness Day’s history dates back to 1997 when the World Kindness Movement hosted its first conference in Tokyo, Japan to bring like-minded organizations from across the world together at one platform. In 1998, the day became an annual observance and is observed in many countries like Canada, Australia, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.
Soon, the kindness movement spread its fame across the globe. In 2005, the UK kindness movement started while in 2009 Singapore also joined the initiative. The World Kindness Movement reached 27 countries from UK in 2010, Australia in 2012, France in 2015 and USA in 2018.
After a long sojoun, the World Kindness Movement was finally recognised as an official NGO in Switzerland.
