Ananta Chaturdashi is an important festival in the Hindu calendar as it is associated with Lord Vishnu and Lord Ganesha.
‘Ananta’ in Sanskrit stands for endless/eternal. Therefore, the Chaturdashi Tithi (fourteenth day) Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha (bright phase of the lunar cycle in Bhadrapada month) is considered as an auspicious day. Devotees worship Lord Vishnu while those who performed Vinayaka Chaturthi puja bid farewell to Lord Ganesha by immersing his idol in a waterbody.

Anant Chaturdashi significance
The Anant form of Lord Vishnu, as per legends, existed before the universe was created. They say that Lord Vishnu produced Lord Brahma from a lotus blooming out of his navel and hence was named as Anant Padmanabhaswamy. Interestingly, the Anant Padmanabhaswamy Temple situated in Thiruvananthapuram (the city of Lord Ananta) in Kerala is dedicated to this form of Lord Vishnu.
