Kodinhi in Kerala is mysterious twin capital of the country. Know why?

0

Kodinhi, God’s own country of Twins, is the village in Kerala which has the largest number of Twins in the country. There are at least 500 pairs of twins or more among the families residing in the village. In India, 9 twins per 1,000 births, but Kodinhi is such an exception, where the rate is 45 per 1,000 births.

What mystery does this land behold? Is there any scientific explanation for this? Is it genetics? What is it?  This has never heard before has been going on for generations, yet its existence is still unknown to most people.

Situated amid lush greenery on the surrounding landscape of tall coconut trees, the remote village of Kodinhi around 150km from Kochi in Kerala is home to 2,000 families. Scientists still can’t give the exact causes behind the massive number of twins. Maybe genetics, age, race, height, weight, previous pregnancies, and assisted reproduction are a few of the factors contributing to the massive number of twins in the village of Kodinhi.

First ever research conducted in the village

Kodinhi in Kerala is mysterious twin capital of the country. Know why?
Kodinhi

The unusual thing of having a large number of twins in the village never seemed unusual to villagers at all until a pair of twin girls conducted research on this. Sameera and Femeena, twins, studying in IISC school in the village, noticed 8 pairs of twins in one class alone. The girls then got curious to find if there were more twins in other classes too. And after this marvelous beginning, this village faced massive popularity and many scientists and researchers came to know the facts behind this. Behind this bizarre number of twins, scientists haven’t got any explanation. In 2016, a few researchers from Germany came and took samples of hair and nails for a DNA test. But this research failed to give a scientific reason behind this mysterious phenomenon.

Not only Kodinhi,Cândido Godói in Brazil,  Igbo-Ora in Nigeria and  Hung Hiep in South Vietnam are other bizarre places in the world that have an exceptionally high rate of twin births.

And Science has no specific explanation for this.

Suyanta Hotel Chikmagluru: This mud hotel cares for environment

Sunyata hotel in Chikmagalur promises sustainability and is an authentically unique sustainable hotel which is built using minimal cement and concrete. EBNW Story reports…

In India, there are around 65 million eco-friendly houses and buildings. Eco-friendly buildings are basically a natural shelter made without disturbing the environment. They are in favour of the environment.

In the 21st century, sustainability is becoming the main concern in the travel sector. Sunyata hotel in Chikmagalur promises sustainability and is an authentically unique sustainable hotel which is built using minimal cement and concrete. Going beyond standard luxuries, the hotel offers lavish indulgences. Sunyata hotel is located in land of intrinsic beauty, Karnataka. Spread across 6,000 square feet, the hotel was built a year ago using eco-friendly bricks, water harvest, solar panels and earth tunnels.

Let’s take a look at the construction of this pretty hotel. Years ago, Lokesh, who is a software engineer in Miami, the owner of the hotel bought a plot in Chikmagalur as an investment. Town’s booming tourism led him to build a hotel. He wanted to be unique with his ideas and decided to build a resort which is in favor of environment and eco the friendly in terms of construction.

He says ” I wanted to use materials that were not harmful to the environment. In the future, even if the building is demolished, I wanted to ensure that the materials would become one with the earth again”. His dream project took a final look with the help of Civil engineer Punit Y & Design Firm based in Benglore.

Upholding environmental sustainability, the team made bricks on their own using the soil that was removed to level the ground, as well as gathering soil from locations within a 15-mile radius of his property.

Next to avoid the use of steel supporters that raises the structure, the engineers used load-bearing structures. The working team used coconut shells and pot fillers for the ceiling, which adds aesthetic value to the rooms, and keeps them cooler.

For the cooling part, instead of air conditioning, they chose a natural cooling technique by using PVC pipes which are installed around 10 feet underground. Those PVC pipes act as a coolant for air and keep the room cool. In Sunyata hotel guests are given an unlimited supply of water and only in steel bottles.

For saving water, a 50,000 litter tank is installed underground which stores rainwater and, after filtering, it is served to guests. A well is also constructed on thepremises to store rainwater. The most interesting fact is that even the greywater generated from the bathrooms is not discarded. The hotel installed a system to purify the greywater.

With all the humble services, Sunyata hotel was inaugurated in January 2021. This beautiful restaurant also has a small shop on their premises where guests purchase handmade sustainable products by local artisans.
