The Japanese Hotel Nishiyama Osen Keiyunkan is 1300+ year old inn which is the longest hotel being continuously operating in the World, as certified by Guinness World Record in 2011.

Fujiwara Mahito, the son of a well-known aide who served the 38th emperor of Japan, founded this hotel.

The fact will leave you awestruck that this hotel has been operated since 705 A.D by the same family for 52 generations hence it’s no surprise that the inn holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s oldest hotel.

Dubbed as oldest inn in world,  Keiunkan is tucked away in the town of Hayakawa, deep in the mountains of Yamanashi Prefecture  in Japan’s central region. It was named after the reigning dynasty and thus named Keiunkan Nishiyama Onsen. Keiunkan is an ‘onsen’ or hot spring hotel.

Nestled in the mountains  ,the main attraction soothing hot springs  remained the center for its appeal. Keiunkan has four open-air baths and two indoor baths which offers mesmerizing view of nature.

The design style witnesses some architectural structures of Buddhism.  The hotel itself has 37 rooms, all decorated with the cozy and traditional Japanese style. Beautiful view of the Hayakawa and Yukawa and resembling paintings can be seen out of any window.

The hotel was modified and modernized from time to time as the generation changed. New technology brings new implementation in the hotel but the uniqueness and charm of the Nishiyama Onsen Keiyunkan shows no change.

The Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan is said to have had many townsfolk commanders of the warring period visiting it.
