The Rajasthan government has initiated a concrete action plan for the conservation and revitalization of the state’s historic stepwells, which hold immense importance in the state’s ancient heritage and traditional water management systems. This plan will include key components such as restoration of stepwells, repair of water flow channels, desilting, and waste disposal.

She emphasized that all necessary steps must be taken to ensure these stepwells are fully functional and reintegrated into active use, reviving their role as vital water structures in the community.

Reviewing the progress of projects sanctioned under the SASCI (State Assistance for Strengthening Cultural Infrastructure) scheme, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed that all tasks be completed within the stipulated timeframe. She stressed that all heritage-related works should be undertaken only under the guidance of heritage consultants, ensuring that the authentic architectural beauty and historical integrity of these structures are preserved.

The meeting was attended by Anand Tripathi, Additional Director of the Tourism Department; Pankaj Dharendra, Director of Archaeology and Museums; Rajesh Sharma, Joint Director (Tourism Development); and other senior officials.
