De Zilk, The Netherlands: India and The Netherlands have had cultural relations for over 400 years. Today the fast growing Indian community in the Netherlands is making an impact with their many cultural contributions.
The Netherlands India Association (NIA) was established to provide cultural and social informative insights into these two fascinating countries and its people.
NIA derives its uniquenes and identity from the fact that it is the only Indo-Dutch intercultural organization in The Netherlands. This means it is a truly Indian and Dutch meeting platform.
Indian Ambassador to The Kingdom of the Netherlands, HE Mrs. Reenat Sandhu was the special guest at the Independence Day Celebrations organized by Netherlands-India Association (NIA).
Mayor Wendy Verkleij, His Excellency Mr. Rajinder Karagi , Surinam Ambassador to The Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mdm Mayor Wendy Verkleij-Eimers from Noordwijk, Noordwijkerhout & De Zilk and Former Deputy Mayor Mr. Rabin Baldewsingh, The Hague & National Coordinator against Discrimination and Racism are guests at the celebration of Indian Independence Day in De Duinpan.
In addition to the various speeches at the start of the celebration, there were musical performances by Indian artists.
For the people of Netherlands, there was a special performance by the dance guard of Carnival Association de Kaninefaaten from Noordwijkerhout; courtesy municipality of Noordwijk.
