Anant Chaturdashi is a significant day in Sanatan Dharma, as it marks the completion of the Ganesh festival with the ritual of Ganesh Visarjan. Here’s how you can perform the visarjan at home with the correct procedure and auspicious timings.

Every year, the Ganesh festival begins on the fourth day of the bright half of Bhadrapada month, known as Ganesh Chaturthi. The festival culminates on the fourteenth day, Anant Chaturdashi, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. On this day, devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha by immersing the idol in water. How to Perform Ganesh Visarjan at Home (Ganesha Visarjan Vidhi 2024)

If you’re planning to immerse Ganesha at home, follow this simple procedure:

  1. Preparation:
Take a vessel or a tub and fill it with water for the immersion. Ensure the water is clean and deep enough to submerge the idol.
  2. Worship (Puja):
Before the immersion, perform a farewell puja for Lord Ganesha. Offer him items such as durva (sacred grass), modak (a sweet Ganesha loves), red flowers, red sandalwood paste, betel leaves, betel nuts, incense sticks, and a lit oil lamp.
  3. Aarti and Prayer:
Perform the aarti, sing hymns in praise of Lord Ganesha, and pray for peace and prosperity in your life. Seek Ganesha’s blessings and forgiveness for any mistakes made during the festival.
  4. Immersion:
Gently submerge the idol of Lord Ganesha into the water. After a few moments, you may either dispose of the water in a garden, by watering plants, or store it for a few days before offering it to a Tulsi or any other sacred plant.
