Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali 2025 on October 19–20 aboard the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, stationed off the coasts of Goa and Karwar. The Prime Minister joined Indian Navy personnel for the festivities, which included lighting diyas, sharing a traditional Bara Khana dinner, and addressing the crew.

In his remarks, Modi praised the Navy’s dedication and valor during Operation Sindoor, highlighting INS Vikrant’s strategic role in deterring adversaries during the 2025 India–Pakistan conflict. He reiterated India’s growing self-reliance in defense, citing indigenous achievements such as the BrahMos missile system and the accelerated induction of new assets across the armed forces.

The Prime Minister also witnessed an impressive MiG-29K fighter demonstration, underscoring the Navy’s technological capabilities and contributions to global humanitarian and security missions.

Celebrating Diwali at sea, Modi lauded the sailors and officers as “sentinels of India’s maritime frontiers,” embodying courage, discipline, and devotion to the nation.
