20th July: World Jump Day 2021 Theme, Importance, Messages, Wishes Quotes, History
20th July is celebrated as The World Jump Day every year aiming at shifting the orbit of Earth, to extend daylight hours, and to create a more standardized climate throughout the world. This day is observed to take a stern look at the very serious issue of global warming and climate change while taking a light-hearted approach. Although it’s impossible to change the orbit of the Earth, jumping brings a lot of fun!
World Jump Day History
The first World Jump Day was observed on July 20, 2006. As per the day’s creator, Torsten Lauschmann, a German-born artist who claimed he was Professor Hans Peter Niesward from Munich’s Institute for Gravitational Physics, 600 million people in the Western Hemisphere had jumped simultaneously at 11:39.13 Coordinated Universal Time that day.
The goal of the jump was to move the Earth out of its orbit to a new orbit hoping it would “stop global warming, extend daytime hours and create a more homogenous climate.” Although, permanently changing the Earth’s orbit is impossible, and the jump didn’t end global warming, but that did not stop anyone from continuing to jump each year on World Jump Day.
