The actor Akshay Kumar is finally breaking his silence over the controversy surrounding his holding a Canadian passport. He said that he feels bad when people bring up the topic without proper acknowledgment. Many people highlighted Akshay’s Canadian passport on social media.
However, the actor never confronted the public about the situation.
Thus, he finally spoke about the controversy at the 20th annual Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. He stated that he applied for an Indian passport in 2019. However, the process, unfortunately, got delayed due to COVID.
He exclaimed that he was lucky enough for his career and credited India for his achievements.
Thus, in the new season of Seedhi Baat in Aaj Tak, the actor addressed disheartenment when people form conclusions about his citizenship. “India is everything to me,” he said. “All I have acquired and gained comes from this place.” He added, “And I’m lucky to have the opportunity to return the favor. When people speak without knowledge, it makes you feel awful.”
In 2019, Akshay promised to upgrade his application, and he did it last year. Akshay is currently working on the production of his forthcoming film, “Selfie,” to get it ready for release. Thus, Diana Penty, Nushratt Bharuccha, and Emraan Hashmi also appear in the Raj Mehta-directed film. The delivery date is set for February 24, 2023.
