4 Indian women who inspired us with their first of its kind initiatives

Indian women have been scripting a success story in different domains by taking first of its kind initiatives which make them legendary in the stream. Their stories stay inspiring with lakhs of women taking a clue or lesson from them to learn something from their success. Here comes four such women who carved a niche in their domains to make a mark on national and global map:

Avani Chaturvedi 

Avani Chaturvedi  is the first Indian woman fighter pilot to fly solo. She has become  an inspiration to many young women interested to join the armed forces. She flies the MiG-21 Bison, an aircraft known to have the highest take-off and landing speed in the world at 340 kph. Avani completed her training at Hyderabad Air Force Academy at the age of 25.

Indu Malhotra

Indu Malhotra became the second sitting woman judge in the Supreme court and is the first woman lawyer to be directly elevated from the Bar.

Hima Das

Hima Das is the first Indian to win gold at the IAAF World Under 20 Athletics Championship. In 2018, she won gold and silver medals at the Asian Games held in Jakarta. The 21-year old, current national record holder is also called the ‘Dhing Express’ as she hails from the Dhing, Assam.

Gita Gopinath

Harvard economist Gita Gopinath is the first Indian woman to be appointed as the chief economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) who is the second Indian after Amartya Sen to get a permanent membership at Harvard’s Economics Department. Gita is also the second Indian after former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan to hold this prestigious position.
