Emirates is ready to take a big step into the world of digital money. The airline has signed a preliminary deal with Crypto.com that will soon let passengers pay for tickets and services using cryptocurrency, reported Reuters.

In recent years, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has grown into a popular place for crypto companies. Many crypto firms have opened offices there or are planning to expand. Today, people in the UAE can already use cryptocurrencies to pay for things like real estate, school fees and even transport services.

Emirates is not the only airline testing crypto payments. Other airlines, too, have started accepting cryptocurrencies to make travel bookings more flexible. Earlier this year, Air Arabia, a Dubai-listed airline, announced it would accept AE Coin, a stablecoin backed by the UAE dirham, for booking flights.
