Oakridge Bengaluru Student Represents India at MIT for NAE STEAM Week

Sachit Shastri, a DP1 student from Oakridge International School Bengaluru, recently showcased his passion for innovation and learning on a global stage by participating in the prestigious Nord Anglia Education (NAE) STEAM Week at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Sachit was among 65 exceptional students from Nord Anglia Education schools worldwide who had the opportunity to collaborate with MIT professors, graduate researchers, and undergraduate students on groundbreaking STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) projects.

A Hands-On Learning Experience

During the program, Sachit worked with a diverse team of students on an innovative camera mount project designed for studying the northern lights in extreme and cold environments. This hands-on challenge allowed him to apply his STEAM knowledge in a practical setting while learning from some of the most brilliant minds in the field.

Reflecting on the experience, Sachit said, “The group project, in particular, was an incredible experience where I worked with students from around the world. We designed a camera mount that could survive in harsh conditions—a truly exciting challenge.”

The unique exposure to MIT’s state-of-the-art research and the collaborative environment not only enriched Sachit’s understanding of STEAM concepts but also inspired him to bring these learnings back to his school community. Upon returning to Oakridge, Sachit eagerly shared his insights during Science Week, igniting curiosity and enthusiasm among his peers.
