Exceptional movie locations that should be on your bucket List

We have seen loads of beautiful movie locations in our time, but it may sometimes be difficult to identify where they actually are in the world. If you are a movie enthusiast, you ought to make it a life mission to visit one of these beautiful locations.

Let’s face it, the world in which we live is incredibly beautiful, and many movie producers have gone out of their way to search for some of the most breathtaking locations in which to shoot movies. Some of these locations and regions are home to many timeless productions like Lord of The Rings, Game of Thrones, and many others that are available to stream on multiple platforms and to even download on the likes of the pirate bay. The truth is, some of these locations seem too beautiful to be real. Below is a compiled list of some of the most breathtaking and iconic movie locations that every movie enthusiast should try to visit.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park – Hunan Province, China

This national forest park was home to the world’s highest-grossing movie to date. Parts of Avatar, an iconic and, possibly, timeless movie, were shot here. The Zhangjiajie National Forest Park inspired the creation of the Hallelujah Mountain which is characterized by towering vertical rocks which are covered in green vegetation. The movie was edited after production to make it look as though the mountains were floating.

Banaue Rice Terraces – Philippines

This incredibly lush location is home to rice terraces that have a beautiful and perfect formation. Parts of Avengers – Infinity War were filmed in these rice terraces and the scenes give a detailed insight into the beauty of the Philippine countryside. The terraces dip thousands of feet, and each terrace seems never-ending, and it would be hard for anyone to believe that they are actually man-made.

Matamata – New Zealand

If you have watched The Lord of The Rings, then this location is not news to you. The tiny houses built into a hill look as though they are adopted from a children’s storybook. Matamata is almost just like the movie presents, with loads of greenery and house-like holes which are 44 in number. Here, you will also have the opportunity to explore nature by trekking the Wairere Falls Walking Trail that leads you to New Zealand’s highest waterfall, the Wairere Falls.

Salzburg – Austria

This region is home to medieval architecture that has proven timeless. It provides the backdrop for The Sound of Music which has managed to maintain a high level of popularity to date. You will be pleased to learn that the actual Von Trapp family lived in Salzburg, even though not in that huge white mansion where most of the movie is produced. Here, you will soak in the beauty of the fast yet majestic Salzach river.

Angkor Thom – Cambodia

This former temple complex holds an unearthly beauty even after going through ruin. It has seen the production of many hit movies such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in which Angelina Jolie starred. Due to its popularity, the movie made Angkar Thom an international symbol by which Cambodia is easily identified. The ruins are made more stunning by vegetation that looks as though it wants to reclaim the place.

Ait Ben-Haddou – Morocco

Set in the beautiful African Sahara, Ait Ben-Haddou has seen the production of more than 20 blockbuster movies that include The Mummy and Gladiator. This region has been a fortified city for many years, and you will be surprised to learn that a few families still live here. According to historical records, it is estimated that this fortified city was established more than 1,000 years ago, and it speaks of the care that has been put into preserving the delicate yet beautiful buildings that still stand to date. Even then, lots of resources such as money and labor go into the active preservation of this place, and a close look will let you see why.

Conclusion

If watching movies and traveling make up part of your hobbies, one of the top items on your bucket list should be one of these majestic movie locations. See for yourself where some of your favorite productions were created and experience the beauty and unique nature that they carry. It will be worth your while.
