COVID-19 vaccines in India: Covishield & Covaxin’s price for 18+ and under 45 population

Covishield and Covaxin, the two COVID-19 vaccines in India, have announced new pricing for those above 18 and under 45

India has started vaccination drive with two vaccines available in the nation which include Covishield and Covaxin.

For people above 45 years, Covishield (by Serum Institute of India) and Covaxin (by Bharat Biotech)  are available free of cost at government vaccination centres.

At private hospitals, people who are 45 and above could get either vaccine for Rs 250.

For above 18 and under 45

The Serum Institute of India (SII) said the Covishield vaccine would be sold at a price of Rs 600 per dose to private hospitals and Rs 400 per dose to state governments.

While some states have announced that anybody above the age of 18 will receive a free vaccination. However, others may fix a price.

Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Chhattisgarh have announced to give free shots of vaccine to people.

If you are below 45 (but above 18) and want to get a Covishield shot at a private hospital, you will be able to get the vaccine if you pay an amount which is likely to be Rs 600 + any additional cost that the hospital chooses to levy along with tax.

“Vaccination shall continue as before in Govt. of India vaccination centres, provided free of cost to the eligible population as defined earlier i.e. Health Care Workers (HCWs), Front Line Workers (FLWs) and all people above 45 years of age.”

Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin will be available to state governments at 600 a dose and private hospitals at 1,200 a dose, the Hyderabad-based company said on Saturday.
