Maharani Gayatri Devi was married to Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur on 9 May, 1940.

She was the most beautiful queen of India who once had to spent five months in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. Being the strong critic of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, she was arrested during the Emergency. 

The Queen used to contest elections against the Congress as an independent candidate.

However, the Congress candidate got only 35,217 votes. After winning the election with such a huge margin, her name was also recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.
