Raj Kapoor’s Iconic Films Return to Theatres for ₹100 from December 13 to December 15,2024

The Raj Kapoor Centenary Celebration Film Festival is now live, offering audiences the chance to revisit the timeless classics of one of Indian cinema’s greatest visionaries. Organized by R.K. Films in collaboration with the Film Heritage Foundation and the National Film Archive of India (NFDC), this special retrospective commemorates Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary. The festival will be held from December 13 to December 15, 2024, across 40 cities in India, featuring screenings in 135 cinemas, including PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis chains.

Tickets are priced at just ₹100 to ensure accessibility, reflecting the inclusive spirit of Raj Kapoor’s films. The festival showcases ten iconic movies, such as Aag (1948), Barsaat (1949), Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Jagte Raho (1956), Sangam (1964), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Bobby (1973), and Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), all of which will be presented with English subtitles.

Known as the “Greatest Showman of Indian Cinema,” Raj Kapoor (1924–1988) made a lasting impact on both Indian and global cinema. His works often highlighted the dreams and struggles of the common man, the rural-urban divide, and the socio-political landscape of post-Partition India. His iconic tramp character, inspired by Charlie Chaplin, resonated globally, particularly in the Soviet Union. Kapoor’s films, including Awaara and Boot Polish, gained international acclaim, with Jagte Raho winning the Crystal Globe at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

This festival is more than a cinematic event; it’s a tribute to a filmmaker who redefined storytelling with his poignant narratives, innovative music, and compelling characters. Tickets are now available through BookMyShow, PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis websites. Don’t miss the opportunity to celebrate Raj Kapoor’s legacy on the big screen.
